Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks continue to tell stories of war and survival that are spellbinding as they are haunting with the new war epic Masters of the Air, a companion series to enduring classics Band of Brothers and The Pacific

While the former chronicled the history of Easy Company and latter revolved around three Marines, Masters of the Air will follow Air Force’s 100th Bomb Group during World War II.

The series is produced by Playtone and Amblin Television alongside Apple Studios, which makes Apple TV+ its exclusive streamer.

New users signing up for the first time can watch the new show as part of your Apple TV+ subscription.

Apple TV+’s new series follows the 100th Bomb Group, tragically nicknamed Bloody Hundredth due to the staggering number of casualties lost during World War II. Told over nine episodes, the show chronicles and dramatises their combat missions, the harrowing journey that follows, and an admirable willpower that’s not easily extinguished.

Masters of the Air, just like its companion shows Band of Brothers and The Pacific, will also tackle themes of brotherhood and sacrifice. The 100th Bomb Group consisted of colourful personalities, the stories of the men and their heroic experiences never to be forgotten.

The war epic series is created by John Shiban and John Orloff based on Donald L. Miller’s 2007 book.

Cary Joji Fukunaga, best known for his works in the first season of True Detective and Maniac, directed the first four episodes. Other directors attached to the project are Dee Rees, Anna Boden, Ryan Fleck, and Tim Van Patten.

Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg are executive producers alongside Gary Goetzman. Hanks and Masters of the Air lead actor Austin Butler previously worked together in the hit biopic Elvis.

Check out the trailer for the epic war drama below.

Starring Austin Butler as Major Gale Cleven, the series features a dynamic cast that also includes Saltburn’s Barry Keoghan and Doctor Who’s Fifteenth Doctor Ncuti Gatwa.
