For over a decade, audiences have had the pleasure of knowing the extraordinary Sheldon Cooper in The Big Bang Theory. Seeing how legendary the character was, a prequel was greenlit to focus on the young Sheldon during the late 1980s and early 1990s. The initial idea for the spin-off came from Jim Parsons himself, who portrayed the adult Sheldon in The Big Bang Theory.

The sitcom’s first season premiered in 2017 to great success. Continuing its run on television, the final Young Sheldon Season 7 just debuted on CBS, but when does it arrive in Australia?

Here’s everything you need to know about Young Sheldon‘s final season.

What’s in this Guide?

What is Young Sheldon about?

Cast of Young Sheldon

Sheldon resides in East Texas with his family. At age nine, he has shown impressive intellectual abilities, leading him to skip several grades and attend high school, to the annoyance of his older brother.

But being a child prodigy highly capable of advanced mathematics and science doesn’t guarantee to make things easier, especially not in a town where church and football are everyone’s way of life.

As Sheldon navigates a world (high school) with people who don’t quite understand him, including his family, his social ineptitude becomes the show’s main source of humour, as well as his teachers’ hilarious attempts to deal with a boy genius.

In Young Sheldon Season 6, Sheldon is 13 years old and already in college. Entering his teenage years as a precocious child genius is surely an eventful milestone. Even more important, Sheldon discovers Beverly Hills, 90210 and becomes genuinely engaged (in an episode titled A German Folk Song and an Actual Adult).

Now in its seventh season, Sheldon and his family are about to embark on their final journey with CBS confirming season 7 to be its last. The final instalment picks up where the sixth season finale left off – Mary and Sheldon have landed in Germany but unaware of a tornado hitting their town. With the Cooper household in disarray, Missy decides it’s time to step up.

The Big Bang Theory co-creator Chuck Lorre created the sitcom for CBS alongside Steven Molaro, who was also a writer and producer in the original series. Jim Parsons narrates the series and executive produces the show alongside Molaro, Todd Spiewak, Chuck Lorre, and Steve Holland.
