Writer and comedian Quinta Brunson stars in her own sitcom, Abbott Elementary. It follows Janine Teagues, a second grade teacher who, despite the odds stacked against her and her poorly funded school, remains optimistic about her job and what she can do for her students. Working at a school that’s terribly mismanaged, Janine and her colleagues are still able to present a stellar attitude toward educating children despite their everyday struggles. Abbott Elementary received much acclaim upon release, praised for its ability to resonate and its enlightening perspective on the challenges and joys of educating.

Abbott Elementary preview
Styled as a mockumentary, the lives of the teachers at Abbott Elementary are documented with a documentary crew in place. A predominantly Black Philadelphia public school, the school is terribly mismanaged that no teachers last more than two years for its poor conditions, except Teagues and history teacher Jacob Hill, who have since gotten used to broken stuff at school.
Joining Janine and Jacob in their mission to help students succeed in life despite their school’s outrageous conditions are kindergarten teacher Barbara Howard, second grade teacher Melissa Schemmenti, slightly tone deaf principal Ava Coleman, and their latest substitute hire Gregory Eddie. Shocked by the school’s lack of resources and support, Janine encourages Gregory pretty much most of the time.
Abbott Elementary is a collaboration between production companies Delicious Non-Sequitur, Fifth Chance (season 2-present), 20th Television, and Warner Bros.
