After the success of the first and second season, the Logie winner for Most Outstanding Drama Series, The Twelve, is back for another round of courtroom drama and crime mystery with The Twelve: Cape Rock Killer. The anthology series features the return of its lead Sam Neill starring as Brett Colby.

For its third season, The Twelve once again navigates a high-stakes territory as Colby is thrust into a murder trial that involves someone close to him. The trial’s progression also unearths a cold case that brings the entire investigation and the hearing into a whole new direction.

Season 3 of the courtroom drama, subtitled Cape Rock Killer, will be from Monday, 4 August 2025, with new episodes launching weekly. Just like the prior seasons, The Twelve: Cape Rock Killer has been confirmed to consist of eight episodes.

The crime genre often provides narratives that focus on mysteries surrounding a case and the authorities tasked with deciphering them. Their plots also centre on a victim’s or a suspect’s ordeal, or the lawyers fighting tooth and nail that we often forget about the civilians who get to witness everything up close.

These civilians lead ordinary lives until a traumatising crime they’re obliged to process leaves them scathed, their lives changed forever. The Twelve, as per the title, follows 12 Australians selected for jury duty. As soon as they become members of the jury, they are catapulted into a world of tragedy, deceit, and trauma from having to witness and absorb a high profile murder trial.
