B.J. Novak, best known for his role as Ryan Howard in The Office, brings us his intriguing new series, The Premise. Consisting of five half-hour episodes, each covering a different story, it uses comedy to help us engage with some of today’s most talked-about issues. The FX network already released the title and the plot for each episode to feature in the series. It all gets underway with “Social Justice Sex Tape”, which stars Ben Platt, Ayo Edebiri, Tracee Ellis Ross, and Jermaine Fowler. It follows a social justice advocate who discovers video evidence of a controversial police incident and an embarrassing sex tape.

The second episode of The Premise is titled “Moment of Silence”, which revolves around a grieving father, played by Jon Bernthal, whose daughter died as a result of gun violence. When he pursues employment at the National Gun Lobby, a co-worker (Boyd Holbrook) begins to suspect that his intentions aren’t as pure as they seem.

In episode 3 titled, a pop megastar (Lucas Hedges) returns to his high school with the pretext of pledging a donation for a new library. Instead of fulfilling his original pledge, he shocks the entire school by promising to have sex with the school’s Valedictorian!

The fourth episode follows a young woman (Lola Kirke) who becomes obsessed with an anonymous online comment. She decides to make drastic and irrational changers to her life to please the person who originally posted it. commenter’s approval.

The final episode, “The Butt Plug”, stars Daniel Dae Kim as one of the world’s richest men. Before his massive wealth, he lived in poverty with immigrant parents. IThe protagonist offers his former school bully (Eric Lange) an opportunity to redeem himself by giving him an hour of uninterrupted time to pitch a product to his directors.

While the entire series is comprised of different narratives, they’re all brought together by Novak’s consistent and brilliant use of comedy and irony. He addresses the most relevant issues today, including gun control, social media, social justice, fame, identity, and revenge – basically, all things that characterise the unprecedented world we live in today.

The Premise features a notable cast starring Daniel Dae Kim (Lost), Jon Bernthal (The Punisher), Lucas Hedges (Manchester by the Sea), Kaitlyn Dever (Unbelievable), Ben Platt (The Politician), Tracee Ellis Ross (Black-ish), Boyd Holbrook (Logan), Amy Landecker (Transparent), and Lola Kirke (Mozart in the Jungle), among others.

The cast of The Premise is a solid ensemble with major television and film stars coming together to portray character-driven stories. The series is executive produced B.J. Novak (The Office) and John Lesher (Birdman) and produced by FX Productions.
