The 2024 season of MasterChef Australia, which will be the show’s 16th season since it debuted back in 2009, has been confirmed to premiere this month on Channel 10. Andy Allen will return as judge alongside a new set of judges that include season 1 runner-up Poh Ling Yeow.

This marks the first time that Allen will be hosting the show since 2020 (MasterChef Australia Season 12) without Jock Zonfrillo and Melissa Leong; Jock tragically passed away last year and Melissa won’t be returning for season 16 (she will remain as host of the MasterChef Australia spin-off, Dessert Masters).

MasterChef Australia Season 16 details

Throughout the seasons, the beloved show has seen an array of talented contestants showcasing their skills in the iconic MasterChef kitchen, capturing the hearts of fans here and abroad.

But the excitement doesn’t stop there. In addition to the intense competition, the show often features special guests and surprises to keep every foodie out there craving and hooked!

From renowned chef Heston Blumenthal making a memorable appearance to the dramatic twists and turns of each round, MasterChef Australia remains fun and charming throughout its over a decade run.

The MasterChef Australia 2023 season, however, suffered from the loss of the beloved MasterChef judge Jock Zonfrillo. He died on 30 April 2023, a day before the supposed premiere of season 15, prompting Channel 10 to move the air date to 7 May. For fans, watching Zonfrillo in MasterChef Australia 2023 episodes was a bittersweet experience.

In the upcoming 2024 season, MasterChef Australia judge Andy Allen has been confirmed to return, alongside new judges Poh Ling Yeow, food critic Sofia Levin and celebrity French chef Jean-Christophe Novelli. Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver will serve as a guest judge.

The new season will introduce 22 MasterChef Australia contestants, each skilled, talented, and vying for the grand title, which Brent Draper won last year during the MasterChef Australia 2023 season.

The contestants will face brand-new challenges this year with the new MasterChef Australia judges guiding them through every daunting task and obstacle. Once again the MasterChef kitchen will be packed with contestants looking to impress the judges with memorable creations.
