Lawmen: Bass Reeves preview

Lawmen: Bass Reeves is a true-blue Western show created by Chad Feehan. It’s all about the legendary lawman, Bass Reeves, the first black deputy marshal in the wild, wild West.

Reeves was the real deal, known far and wide as the greatest frontier hero in American history. He served as a federal peace officer in the Indian Territory, capturing over 3,000 of the most dangerous criminals you could imagine, all without so much as a scratch on him.

Bass Reeves’ plot promises some mighty fine twists, as Bass Reeves battles it out in the post-Reconstruction era. You’ll see him go up against the imposing and commanding Judge in the Fort Smith Courthouse, Isaac Parker, played by Donald Sutherland. And let’s not forget Billy Crow, portrayed by Forrest Goodluck, and a whole bunch of other colourful characters.

As for the Bass Reeves story, it’s not just about shootouts and battle scenes. It’s about family, too. Bass Reeves’ strong and fiercely loyal wife, Jennie Reeves, will tug at your heartstrings as she stands by her man through thick and thin.

And if you’re a fan of Kevin Costner and the Dutton family from Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone universe, the newest spin-off in the franchise revolving around one of America’s influential historical figures is a must-watch.
