Bloodlands Season 2 continues to delve into its protagonist’s troubled past while unveiling a new mystery. 

After delivering a straightforward detective drama, Northern Irish series Bloodlands returns for another instalment with a new crime to decipher.

James Nesbitt’s DCI Tom Brannick also continues to struggle with his haunting past as an undercover operative. But with a new case reminding him of events he’d rather forget, he must confront the horrors of his previous life to solve another puzzling crime.

Bloodlands is a Northern Irish crime drama revolving around Detective Chief Inspector Tom Brannick (James Nesbitt). Tom’s troubled past as an undercover operative somehow finds its way to seep into his present cases. Joining him in his investigations are his trusted colleague DS Niamh McGovern (Charlene McKenna) and boss DCS Jackie Twomey (Lorcan Cranitch). 

In Season 2, DCI Tom and DS Niamh are tasked to investigate a shooting on the shores of Strangford Lough. But when the victim turns out to be someone from Tom’s troubled past, he knows his mysterious death is somehow connected to a secret they had been hiding for years. 

The procedural drama is written and created by Chris Brandon with episodes directed by Pete Travis, Jon East, and Audrey Cook. Bodyguard and Line of Duty creator Jed Mercurio executive produced the show alongside Jimmy Mulville, Mark Redhead, Tommy Bulfin, and Tom Lazenby.
