Dexter Morgan is not going anytime soon with Dexter Resurrection confirmed to premiere next week. A sequel series to Dexter: New Blood (2021), which served as the continuation to the original Dexter series (2006-2013), the upcoming show is set a few weeks after the events in New Blood.
The conclusion offered in the first sequel series was by no means its true ending, which is why it’s welcome news that Resurrection is happening.

Dexter’s new 2025 sequel premieres with two episodes on Friday, 11 July, only on Paramount+.
Just like Dexter: New Blood, the series consists of 10 episodes, with remaining episodes streaming weekly on Fridays.

What is the plot of Dexter: Resurrection?

Dexter: New Blood ended on a strong, shocking note: Dexter (Michael C. Hall) broke his moral code as his desperation to escape jail got the better of him. Harrison (Jack Alcott) witnessed his father commit the one crime he swore would never happen. Emotions ran high, things spiraled out of control, and Harrison left his old man lying in a pool of his own blood. The end.
But wait—not yet. Dexter survives the shooting and recovers against all odds. Guilt-ridden and utterly confused, Harrison is nowhere to be found, but Dexter is resolved to find him. While chasing the missing Harrison, Angel Batista (David Zayas) makes his return full-time, going to New York from Miami in search of Dexter and Harrison.
Dexter Resurrection was developed by Clyde Phillips, who also served as the showrunner. A prequel series, Dexter: Original Sin, premiered last December 2024.

In addition to Michael C. Hall, David Zayas, James Remar, and Jack Alcott, the cast of Dexter Resurrection introduces new characters, including Leon Prater, who will be played by Game of Thrones’ Peter Dinklage and Charley, who will be portrayed by Kill Bill actress Uma Thurman. Breaking Bad and Jessica Jones actress Krysten Ritter will star as Mia Lapierre, while Dominic Fumusa will play Detective Melvin Oliva.
