The ANZAC Day Cup is a much-anticipated annual rugby league match between the Sydney Roosters (currently 9th on the ladder) and the St. George Illawarra Dragons (currently 13th) in the NRL to honour the Anzac spirit. What is Anzac Day?
Anzac Day, which comes every year on April 25th, is a day of remembrance for Australia and New Zealand’s military personnel, both past and current, who have served in wars, crises, and peacekeeping missions across the world. A lot of Anzac Day remembrance services are being conducted during the Australian war memorial.
It was first established as a day of commemoration to honor the ANZACs (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) who participated in the Gallipoli campaign during World War I in 1915, with the April 25th landing of Australian and New Zealand troops in Gallipoli being the basis for the specific date.
