Growing up in Compton, California, Dr Dre becomes fascinated with DJ innovations, dance music and sound, leading to his membership of N.W.A. Meanwhile, Jimmy Iovene develops a reputation as a skilled producer.

Dr Dre looks to make a fresh start after a series of calamities, even as N.W.A becomes a force to be reckoned with. Successful collaborations with Stevie Nicks and Tom Petty help Jimmy ascend the music ladder.

Jimmy co-founds Interscope Records and reaches a distribution deal with Death Row Records. Dr Dre, Tupac Shakur and Snoop Dogg get caught up in a violent feud with East Coast rap rivals.

Dre recovers from a series of disappointing solo releases after Jimmy introduces him to the music of white rapper Eminem and the partners reach new heights after creating Beats Electronics.
