Morris Chestnut is Dr. John Watson in the new Watson TV series from CBS Studios, which is now returning for season 2. Based on Arthur Conan Doyle’s character from his Sherlock Holmes’ stories, Chestnut plays the titular character in this new “medical drama with detective elements”. It’s set a year after Sherlock’s death at the hands of Moriarty, with Watson moving to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to start anew.

Watson Season 2 will be streaming in Australia from Tuesday, 14 October with new episodes arriving weekly. The episode count for the second season is still unknown as of this writing, although it’s worth noting that Watson Season 1 ran for 13 episodes.

What is the plot of the Watson TV series?
Following the death of the titular character’s friend and partner Sherlock Holmes, John Watson resumes his medical career treating rare disorders at a clinic dedicated to curing such cases, Holmes Clinic.
While his detective days are over, solving medical mysteries brings him back to his past life. After evidence suggests that Moriarty is still alive, he’s set to write his own chapter as he faces Sherlock’s biggest nemesis, only now without Sherlock by his side.
In Watson Season 2, Watson and his colleagues deal with the insidious consequences of Moriarty’s defeat, all while they continue to save lives. However, the past has its unique ways of resurfacing to upend everybody’s lives as Sherlock Holmes emerges after being presumed dead. His return forces Watson to confront a startling secret hidden inside him, literally, as the secret lies within his own body.
Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes stories have fascinated audiences for more than a century, continuing as several stories are adapted for film and television. Watson is CBS’ second adaptation of Holmes stories after Elementary starring Jonny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu.
Watson is created by Craig Sweeny, who also serves as an executive producer alongside Chestnut, Sallie Patrick, Larry Teng, Shäron Moalem, Aaron Kaplan, and Brian Morewitz.

Once Upon a Time actor Robert Carlyle has also been confirmed to join the season 2 cast as Sherlock Holmes. Meanwhile, Randall Park played Sherlock Holmes’ archenemy Professor James Moriarty in season 1.
