A television adaptation of Rebecca Godfrey’s 2005 book, Under the Bridge, is set to premiere in Australia. The TV series of the same name delves into the murder of Reena Virk, a Canadian teenager desperate to fit in with her peers and whose shocking death turned into a national tragedy.

The late author is also a character in the show (played by Riley Keough), a writer seeking answers alongside local police officer Cam Bentland (Lily Gladstone). Through their investigation, we’re taken to the hidden world of the young girls accused of the crime and the startling revelations that follow.

 Under the Bridge TV show

Under the Bridge follows the murder of 14-year-old girl Reena Virk. Prior to her death, Virk was a victim of bullying and struggled to fit in with other teenagers. Her untimely and devastating death at the hands of her peers resulted in national outrage, embodying the pervasiveness of teen bullying in Canada at the time.

The television adaptation begins with Virk vanishing, who never makes it back home after going to a party. Investigating her disappearance is Officer Cam Bentland, who later comes across with writer Rebecca Godfrey. She plans to write a book about troubled girls in the area, but instead  stumbles upon a shocking crime that involves the most unlikely of suspects.

Under the Bridge is developed by Quinn Shephard and is based on a true-crime book of the same name by the late Rebecca Godfrey.
