What is The Good Doctor about?
The medical procedural drama follows Shaun Murphy (Highmore), a young autistic surgeon who leaves his idyllic country life to join the surgical team at the reputable San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital. Shaun also has Savant syndrome, making him exceptional in his work. While he is dedicated to using his extraordinary capacities to help people, there are always doubts from those around him due to his condition.
Throughout the show, he has proven to be a brilliant doctor who is more than capable of saving lives, challenging skepticism. As part of a surgical unit at a prestigious hospital, Shaun’s journey has been a tumultuous one. At times, he is forced to sit on the sidelines when prejudices about his autism shamelessly arise. Some of his ideas are also easily discredited and stolen by others with a selfish agenda.
Shaun’s dedication and sense of duty to help others take precedence in the end, which is enough for him to keep going. Slowly, he earns the respect and admiration of his patients, colleagues, and superiors.
In The Good Doctor Season 6, Shaun has come a long way – he married the love of his life, Leah (Paige Spara) and by the end of the sixth season, welcomed a baby boy named Steve Aaron Murphy. The final seventh season will continue Shaun and Leah’s journey as parents while Shaun resumes his work at the hospital. We can also expect that his feud with Dr. Glassman (Richard Schiff) finally reaches a resolution.

Cast of The Good Doctor Season 7
Freddie Highmore has been the show’s lead character, playing Dr. Shaun Murphy from the beginning. Other original characters who never left the series include Richard Schiff as Dr. Aaron Glassman, Will Yun Lee as Dr. Alex Park, Fiona Gubelmann as Dr. Morgan Reznick, Christina Chang as Dr. Audrey Lim, and Paige Spara as Lea Dilallo.
Meanwhile, main characters not returning for Season 7 are Hill Harper as Dr. Marcus Andrews and Nicholas Gonzalez as Dr. Neil Melendez. Brandon Larracuente, who played Dr. Daniel Perez in The Good Doctor Season 6, only returns as a guest in the final season, alongside Antonia Thomas who plays Dr. Claire Browne.
