In Apple’s new original film The Family Plan, Mark Wahlberg plays a devoted husband and father of three while rocking his job as a car salesman. In truth, decades ago he was an elite government assassin tasked with neutralising some of the world’s most dangerous threats.

His enemies, however, have tracked him down and are very much eager for payback. To protect his family he offers an impromptu cross-country road trip to Las Vegas. Now he just needs to figure out an excuse why bad men are out to kill them and how to get back into action without his identity being revealed.

Confirmed to premiere in December, here’s everything to know about the new action comedy.

Dan Morgan (Wahlberg) is a regular family man with a regular job. He’s a devoted husband to his wife, Jessica (Michelle Monaghan) and a stand-up father to his three children.

There’s just something about his past that’s bound to catch up with him; when it finally does it takes a swing at him in the unlikeliest of places – at the grocery store while out shopping for diapers.

With his identity exposed, Dan suddenly announces a family road trip to Las Vegas as an excuse to get away. But with sharp-suited, vicious men determined to hunt him down, he’s left with no choice but to employ his long-dormant skills to stop them.

After years of hiding his past life, he also decides it’s high time he comes clean to his family about being a covert assassin, although it may take some time for them to buy it.

The Family Plan is directed by Simon Cellan Jones from a screenplay by David Coggeshall. Wahlberg also produced the movie alongside David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger, and Stephen Levinson.
