George Clooney helms the new sports drama The Boys in the Boat, which follows the rowing team of the University of Washington as they strive to compete at the ultimate level – the 1936 Summer Olympics.
The story centres on Joe Rantz, an engineering student who struggles to get by at the height of the Great Depression. His life is changed forever after becoming a rower of his university.
Despite his lack of experience, or absence thereof, he and the other members of the team surprise the country, and eventually, the world, with their strength, resilience, and hard-earned excellence.

The movie hit Australian theatres last 4 January. After about three months, it will make its streaming premiere with Prime Video launching the film from Friday, 29 March.

What is the plot of The Boys in the Boat?
Told through the eyes of rower Joe Rantz (Callum Turner), The Boys in the Boat follows the rowing team of the University of Washington. Composed of mostly inexperienced rowers, the UW’s rowing crew were trained to compete with the wealthiest schools in the country, beating impossible odds despite their meager backgrounds and resources.
After proving themselves to be winners in their home country, the boys are set to show the whole world what they’re made of. Based on the best-selling nonfiction book of the same name by Daniel James Brown, the movie is directed by George Clooney, which he also produced alongside Grant Heslov.
