How to Watch Y: The Last Man in Australia

A new FX original series, Y: The Last Man, will hit our screens this month. It’s set in a post-apocalyptic world where a mysterious plague has killed every man on the planet, except Yorick Brown and his pet monkey, Ampersand.

Based on an adaptation of the acclaimed comics published by DC Comics and created by Brian K Vaughan, the series revolves around how the last man traverses this new world and seeks survivors to restore it. Find out how to watch all episodes here.

Y The Last Man series focuses on the adventures of Yorick Brown, played by Ben Schnetzer (Warcraft, The Death & Life of John F. Donovan) and Ampersand, his pet monkey, who are the last male survivors on the planet. A devastating plague eradicates every male mammal, including humans, that have the Y chromosome, except our two protagonists.

Now, the new world is ruled by women, where Jennifer Brown – played by Diane Lane (House of Cards) – leads from the front. The series traverses a post-apocalyptic world showing how the man and his pet survive in the new society and try to understand a mysterious, cataclysmic event.

The TV series was initially named Y, later changed to Y: The Last man. Y has a symbolic meaning, where it stands for the Y chromosome and Yorick, the lead character’s first name.

Even though Michael Green initially created the show, he stepped down from the role and decided to focus on American Gods. That’s when Eliza Clark stepped in, who is famed for penning another series called Rubicon. With her experience and creative brilliance, she has managed to set up a stellar cast. Y: The Last Man also stars Olivia Thirlby (Goliath, The L Word: Generation Q), Amber Tamblyn (Two and a Half Men, Comedy Bang! Bang!), Marin Ireland (The Umbrella Academy), and Diana Bang (Resident Alien, The Astronauts).

Beth DeVille (Juliana Canfield) will act as the love interest for our hero, Yorick. As well as another interesting character – Sam Jordan (Elliot Fletcher), who’s a trans man.

  • Marin Ireland as Nora Brady
  • Amber Tamblyn as Kimberly Cunningham
