Another spooky adventure awaits with Goosebumps: The Vanishing (Goosebumps Season 2) debuting in Australia this Friday.

The Goosebumps TV series based on R. L. Stine’s books of the same name returns this week with a second season featuring a different cast and storyline. Titled Goosebumps: The Vanishing, it stars David Schwimmer, Ana Ortiz, Sam McCarthy, and Jayden Bartels.

Unlike the Goosebumps series in the ’90s, the remake won’t be an anthology series; instead focusing on a single storyline comprising episodes of mashed up Goosebumps stories. Rob Letterman, who directed the Goosebumps movie in 2015, developed the series alongside The Muppets co-writer Nicholas Stoller.

Here’s everything to know about the new season of the 2023 Goosebumps series.

Goosebumps Season 2 will be streaming in Australia from Friday, 10 January 2025. All eight episodes will be dropping at once, available to stream exclusively on Disney+. You can also revisit episodes from Goosebumps Season 1, also streaming on Disney+.

Goosebumps: The Vanishing follows fraternal twins Devin (McCarthy) and Cece (Bartels) who recently find themselves adjusting to a new life in Gravesend, Brooklyn with their recently divorced dad, Anthony (Schwimmer). Their father is a former botany professor who has since spent most of his time in science and mystery, who also owns a basement he said if off-limits to everyone but him.

When the siblings discover a threat brewing, they see how it all begins with their father’s basement, unearthing dark secrets and unleashing a series of events that expose the town’s most profound mystery. As they embark on a shadowy and twisted journey, they find themselves right in the middle of a haunting tale involving four teenagers who mysteriously vanished in 1994, including their father’s brother.

Just like Goosebumps Season 1, which follows a group of five high schoolers delving into the tragic passing of a teen named Harold Biddle 30 years ago, The Vanishing debut episode is written by co-creator Rob Letterman alongside Hilary Winston.

In addition to Schwimmer, McCarthy, Bartels, and Ortiz, Goosebumps: The Vanishing also stars Elijah M. Cooper as CJ, Galilea La Salvia as Frankie, and Francesca Noel as Alex.

The reboot of R.L. Stine’s Goosebumps franchise, considered to be a pop culture phenomenon, is produced by Sony Pictures alongside Original Film and Scholastic Entertainment for Disney+ and Hulu.
