Socceroos vs Syria WCQ 2017 Preview
This will be a two leg playoff, with the first one to be played at Hang Jebat Stadium in Malaysia before playing at ANZ Stadium in Sydney five days later. The Socceroos were disappointing overall in the group stage, and in the end their fate was out of their hands, which is never a good thing, especially when qualifying for the World Cup. Their record on the road is good however, and Syria do come into this playoff with a few injury clouds, much like Australia.
The recent form of Syria has been pretty good. They drew 1-1 with Japan in June, which is a big tick, especially when playing in Japan. Their last three World Cup qualifying matches has seen them draw 2-2 with China, beat Qatar 3-1 before a gutsy 2-2 draw with Iran back in early September. They have played most of their recent football in Malaysia, which is a definite advantage given they will have handled the humidity and overall weather that the country brings. Could be a different story when they come back to Sydney, and if you can’t watch it Free to Air on your big screen you can still stream it live online.

Socceroos vs Iraq 2017 Preview
These two sides have already played in this battle to qualify for Russia, in September, where the Socceroos proved too good for Iraq, winning 2-0, in what was a pretty scrappy game overall, largely due to the heat and humidity, something that they will have to face once again in the Middle East here against Iraq.
The Asian Cup champ Socceroos are expected to win comfortably, but given their recent form, and the fact that Australian sides at club have been performing poorly on the international stage in the Asian Champions League, the confidence probably won’t be as high as expected. Socceroos captain Mile Jedinak has been playing some okay Football since joining Aston Villa from Crystal Palace, but has always starred for the Socceroos when the nation needs someone to stand up. His influence from the back will be crucial to this result.
