The Paper is a new series designed as a mockumentary. Greg Daniels, best known for adapting The Office for the US, is a co-creator alongside Nathan For You co-creator Michael Koman.

Interestingly, The Paper is a follow-up and spin-off to The Office. From Dunder Mifflin, a documentary crew will now follow the day-to-day of a Midwestern newspaper, the Toledo Truth-Teller,as its publisher strives to revive its glory days with volunteer reporters.

Arriving on streaming in September, find out how to watch The Paper in Australia using this guide.

The Paper will be streaming in Australia from Thursday, 4 September on BINGE. Comprising 10 episodes for its first season, the series will debut with four episodes, then two episodes weekly until finale on 25 September. A premiere date on Foxtel has yet to be confirmed.

As per The Paper trailer, we’ve also learned that Dunder Mifflin’s Oscar Martinez will also make a recurring appearance in The Paper. Check it out below.

Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch was the subject of a documentary crew that brought to us the world’s greatest boss (Michael), his Assistant Regional Manager (Dwight, actually Assistant to the Regional Manager), Jim, Pam, Kevin, Oscar, Kelly, Ryan, Angela, Stanley, Phyllis, Creed, Meredith, and Toby. That lasted nine seasons of cringe comedy with deadpan humour to boot.

This time, the same documentary crew is set to immortalise a new team of employees. There’s already a challenge being presented from the get-go as the new subject, the Toledo Truth-Teller, is a run-down newspaper facing near extinction. Brought in to try to revive it is new editor-in-chief Ned Sampson, played by the delightful Domhnall Gleeson (Ex-Machina, The Patient).

Taking on the seemingly impossible task of bringing it back to life are volunteer reporters who have not done any newspaper writing in their life, except for writing tweets and messaging in group chats.

With Ned’s passion in journalism, he fully embraces the job of bringing the Toledo Truth-Teller back with accurate and relevant news reporting alongside wacky employees who don’t have the resources nor proper training to do so. The result? Situational absurdities—something that mockumentaries like The Paper thrive on.

In addition to Domhnall Gleeson, the cast of The Paper also includes Sabrina Impacciatore (The White Lotus Season 2), Melvin Gregg (Nine Perfect Strangers), Chelsea Frei (The Moodys), Ramona Young (Never Have I Ever), Gbemisola Ikumelo (Famalam), Alex Edelman, Tim Key (Taskmaster), and Eric Rahill.

Appearing as recurring characters are: Duane Shepard Sr., Allan Havey, Nate Jackson, Mo Welch, Nancy Lenehan, Molly Ephraim, Tracy Letts, and Oscar Nuñez.
