Jack Quaid is a regular guy who feels no pain in the latest action thriller Novocaine.
Following the critical and commercial success of his earlier 2025 sci-fi thriller film Companion, Quaid is back on the big screen as a bank employee who impulsively chases bank robbers in his wild efforts to rescue his colleague/the girl of his dreams after being taken as hostage. Novocaine is just about to premiere in Australian cinemas on 3 April 2025. It will take a couple more months after that before it becomes available for streaming online at home.
For watching on demand following its theatrical run, your first options would be pay-per-view platforms such as Apple TV, Prime Video Store, Google TV, Microsoft Store, Fetch, and others.

What is the plot of Novocaine?
Nathan Caine (Jack Quaid) is a mild-mannered introverted bank employee. He has a condition called congenital insensitivity to pain with anhidrosis (CIPA), meaning he’s not susceptible to pain. His inexperience when it comes to relationships also makes him shy around women, until his co-worker Sherry (Amber Midthunder) shows interest in him.
They ultimately bond after a night out together, only for Sherry to be abducted by bank robbers who attacked their workplace the following morning. With no thought or any clear plans, he impulsively steals a police car to rescue her.
Searching for clues as to the identities of the men behind the robbery with the help of his online gamer friend Roscoe (Jacob Batalon), Nathan is resolved to get her back. He has no fighting skills or experience whatsoever, just his inability to feel pain, but that should be enough, right?
Novocaine (2025) is directed by Dan Berk and Robert Olsen from a screenplay written by Lars Jacobson. The action film is produced by Joby Harold, Tory Tunnell, Drew Simon, Julian Rosenberg, and Matt Schwartz.
