Snow White (2025): Release date and where to watch in Australia

March 10, 2025

After surrounding controversies and significant delay, Disney’s Snow White (2025) has been finally confirmed to premiere in March.

Walt Disney’s live-action reimagining of the classic fairy tale comes almost 90 years after the studio’s original animated film in 1937. It stars West Side Story actress Rachel Zegler in the titular role of the beloved princess and Wonder Woman’s Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen/Wicked Stepmother.

Ahead of its cinematic premiere, here’s everything to know about the new Snow White movie and where it will possibly debut on streaming afterwards.

The new Snow White film is scheduled to premiere in Australia on Thursday, 20 March 2025.

Don’t miss the Snow White 2025 movie in Australia from 20 March! Check out the trailer below.

The movie is just about to premiere in Australian cinemas next week. With new films taking about three months (or longer) to debut on streaming TV, it’s likely for Snow White to be streaming in Australia some time in July or August. It could also take longer, depending on its box-office performance.

Being a Walt Disney production, we can speculate that it will be streaming on Disney Plus after its theatrical run and launch on pay per view (Apple TV, Google TV, Prime Video Store, Fetch).

To watch similar films, Snow White and the Huntsman is currently available to stream on Foxtel Now, Paramount+, and Netflix. The original 1937 animated film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, is on Disney+.

While we’re all familiar with how the story of Snow White goes, adaptations and remakes on television and film vary each time with story changes essential to keep some part of its magic under wraps. Such was the case of fantasy films based on Snow White’s character, including the one starring Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron, and Chris Hemsworth—Snow White and the Huntsman.

Disney’s 2025 reimagining of its 1937 classic is also relying on some changes to the original story in its efforts to make the film’s themes contemporary. But the core story remains: Snow White is a good-natured princess whose unrivalled kindness inadvertently makes her a threat to her stepmother, the Queen. With the Evil Queen disillusioned with her sense of grandiosity and fragile ego to boot, she makes it her mission to eliminate Snow White from her life forever.

Escaping the attempt on her life, Snow White takes refuge in the forest where she meets the Seven Dwarfs, who become her friends and most loyal allies. After realising her stepmother’s cruelty, not just towards her but to everyone in the kingdom, she goes full-on hero to take back the kingdom from her corrupt stepmum.

Disney’s 2025 Snow White is directed by Marc Webb (The Amazing Spider-Man 1 & 2), written by Erin Cressida Wilson and Greta Gerwig, and produced by Marc Platt and Jared LeBoff. It stars Rachel Zegler (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes), Gal Gadot (Heart of Stone), Andrew Burnap (WeCrashed), and Ansu Kabia (Miss Scarlet and The Duke). Burnap’s character Jonathan is specifically made for the film, omitting The Prince from the story.

Providing the voices and motion captures of the dwarfs are Jeremy Swift, Martin Klebba, George Salazar, Tituss Burgess, Jason Kravits, and Andrew Barth Feldman. Patrick Page also stars as the voice and motion capture of the Magic Mirror. Meanwhile, Hadley Fraser and Lorena Andrea will play Snow White’s parents.
