Every Harry Potter movie has a new streaming home in Australia with the arrival of HBO Max.

Harry Potter is one of the most popular movie franchises of all time. Based on the novels by J.K. Rowling, the first ever Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, was released in 2001. It was followed by seven more Harry Potter films with the final Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 released in 2011.

It took over ten years before the primary story arc chronicling Harry Potter’s quest to defeat Lord Voldemort finally culminates in the last film. As of 2021, the Harry Potter movies are the third highest-grossing film franchise of all time. It stars Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson as the three main characters.

Every Harry Potter movie is available on streaming TV via select services in Australia. With the arrival of HBO Max in the country beginning April 2025, the Harry Potter movies go directly to the Max streaming app, leaving BINGE and Foxtel.

However, Foxtel’s evolved partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery secured that all WBD content remains to be accessible to Foxtel customers via HBO Max itself. If you’re a Foxtel customer, a Basic Max plan (with ads) is included in your plan (any package), guaranteeing your continued access to HBO shows, Max originals, Warner Bros. Pictures movies, DC Universe, Discovery, and more.

In the film adaptation of the first Harry Potter novel, Harry Potter is introduced as a boy who learns on his 11th birthday that he’s no ordinary child – his parents are powerful wizards, which also makes him just as uniquely powerful.

His journey to the magical realms then begins after he’s summoned to attend Hogwarts, a boarding school for wizards. There, he meets Ron and Hermione, who ultimately become his closest friends and allies.

In the subsequent Harry Potter movies, the trio is always on the front lines when fighting against different forms of evil, but Harry Potter’s ultimate nemesis, and the deepest source of darkness, would have to be Lord Voldemort.
