Don’t miss Murderbot in Australia streaming on Apple TV+ from 16 May 2025! Check out the trailer below.

In this television adaptation of “The Murderbot Diaries”, an android called a Security Unit (SecUnit) becomes a rogue cyborg after it hacked its own programming. Now with a will of its own, protecting and obeying humans is no longer a priority, especially with all the entertainment channels it can watch in one go.

The robot also calls itself “Murderbot” and hides its ability to think for itself. He accompanies a group of scientists in an expedition with the goal of protecting and keeping them alive. For Murderbot, it is imperative to do so, else he risks discovery, which means saying goodbye to all the soap operas it loves.

While appalled at humans and their weaknesses, the titular SecUnit becomes drawn to them, gradually leading it to delve deeper into the meaning of life. The scientists it is meant to protect ultimately discovers its rogueness; now they just have to decide whether they can trust a robot who calls itself ‘Murderbot’ or not.

The cast of Murderbot includes Alexander Skarsgård (The Northman, Succession) as the title role, David Dastmalchian (Oppenheimer, Late Night with the Devil), Noma Dumezweni (The Little Mermaid, Presumed Innocent), Sabrina Wu (Joy Ride, Abbott Elementary), Tattiawna Jones (Lost in Space, Orphan Black: Echoes), Akshay Khanna (The Doll Factory, Critical Incident), and Tamara Podemski (Coroner, Outer Range).

The series is created by brothers Chris and Paul Weitz for Apple TV+. They also serve as executive producers alongside Skarsgård, Andrew Miano, David S. Goyer, and Keith Levine.
