What is the plot of The Girlfriend?
In this latest psychological thriller based on Michelle Frances’ novel of the same name, Laura is beyond successful: an impressive career, a rich husband, and a loving son. However, everything changes when her son Danny meets Cherry, whom he instantly falls for.
Laura, who’s overly protective of Danny, feels something is not right with his relationship with Cherry. She also suspects that his new girlfriend is a manipulative gold digger who’s come to hurt her family. Cherry, meanwhile, wants to be welcomed with open arms, but Danny’s mother is making things hard for her.
As Danny continues to be enamored by Cherry, Laura begins to feel she’s losing control — that is, until a tragedy strikes, giving her the perfect opportunity to get rid of Cherry once and for all. But her deceit leads to irreversible consequences that will change the course of her family’s life.
