Google Play Movies has a remarkably extensive library of shows and movies. Users can rent or purchase movies, as well as purchase TV shows by the episode or by the season. Latest releases available on Google Play Movies include Raya and the Last Dragon, Nomadland, and Sound of Metal, to name a few.
Google Play Movies only offers TV shows and movies for rental or purchase. Buying movies can start from $5.99 for SD or $6.99 for HD, while renting can start from $3.99 for SD or $4.99 for HD. For buying shows, episodes usually cost $2.99 for SD and $3.99 for HD. Just like iTunes, there's no rental option for shows in Google Play Movies.
Google recently announced that the Google Play Movies and TV app will no longer be available on any Roku set-top box or any Samsung, LG, Vizio or Roku smart TV beginning July 15. You can still access any rented or purchased content using Roku devices and the aforementioned smart TVs with the YouTube app.

Microsoft Store
Microsoft Store gets a makeover this year just in time for the release of Windows 11. The new store is already looking promising with reputable partners on board, including Adobe, Zoom, and Disney Plus. A partnership with Amazon also means access to Android apps that can run on your Windows 11 computer.

All kinds of apps are on Microsoft Store, plus a large collection of movies available for rent and purchase. There’s also plenty of popular shows you can buy with complete seasons of The Walking Dead and its spin-off Fear the Walking Dead, Shameless, and Better Call Saul just to name a few. Even the complete seasons of South Park are on here, as well as new episodes of Rick and Morty.
Buying movies on Microsoft Store can go as low as $4.99 during weekly specials, while rental flash sale can get you to rent movies for as low as $0.99. Some blockbuster movies are also offered with up to 45% off.
As part of its Windows 11 announcement, Microsoft makes a new policy change that will allow developers to keep every penny their Windows app makes. While the 100% revshare option doesn’t apply to games, it’s still something that Apple and Google don’t have right now.
