The biographical drama tells the wondrous story of competitive swimmer Trudy Ederle. Following her gold-winning victory at the 1924 Olympics, she became set to accomplish a daunting undertaking that no woman had ever done before – swim the English channel.

This challenge entails swimming a distance of 21 miles from France to England, all while battling strong currents, unpredictable weather conditions, and the risk of hypothermia.

The film adaptation chronicles not only Trudy’s harrowing physical journey, but also the emotional weight of pursuing something extraordinary during a time when women were believed to be too weak to compete.

Despite many people rooting against her and wanting her to fail, Trudy persevered against all odds, leading her to accomplish an incredible feat that cemented her legacy in sports.

Directed by Joachim Rønning from a screenplay written by Jeff Nathanson, the film is produced by Top Gun Maverick producer Jerry Bruckheimer alongside Chad Oman and Jeff Nathanson. It is based on Glenn Stout’s book of the same name.
