Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield showcase their solid chemistry in the new romantic drama We Live in Time.

Filmmaker John Crowley, best known for directing the film Brooklyn starring Saoirse Ronan, is giving us a new film to swoon over featuring two Academy Award-nominees in their debut on-screen collaboration. Garfield and Pugh play Tobias and Almut, who, after a surprise encounter, start new lives together. Their love story, presented in a nonlinear structure, spans a decade of romance, grief, and exploration.

Finally announced to premiere in Australian cinemas, here’s everything to know about the new film.

We Live in Time initially premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last 6 September 2024. It had its US premiere on 11 October 2024. In the UK, the film debuted on New Year’s Day.

The We Live in Time release date in Australia has been finally confirmed to happen on Thursday, 16 January 2025. Check cinemas near you to find We Live in Time showtimes and book your tickets online.

Streaming rights for the new deeply moving romance starring Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh may also be acquired by other streaming services like Netflix, Prime Video, and Stan.

It is, however, worth noting that just like any other newly released movie, it will first be released digitally to buy or rent on Apple TV, Google TV, Microsoft Store, Prime Video Store, Fetch, and other similar platforms.

Almut Brühl (Pugh) is an up-and-coming chef who meets recently divorced Tobias Durand (Garfield). With a connection established from the get-go, the two start a life together, building a home and becoming a family.

Their story is told over the course of a decade, which includes a difficult truth they have to overcome together. As they confront a path challenged by the reins of time, they must take the unconventional route and discover new ways to explore life together.

The romantic drama received rave reviews from viewers and critics alike with Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh’s palpable chemistry particularly praised. In addition to Garfield and Pugh, the film’s cast also includes Grace Delaney, Lee Braithwaite, Aoife Hinds, Adam James, and Douglas Hodge.

This decade-spanning deeply moving romance film is directed by John Crowley from a screenplay written by Nick Payne. Adam Ackland, Leah Clarke, and Guy Heeley serve as producers.
