The Artful Dodger, the new Australian series featuring characters from Charles Dickens’ Oliver Twist is confirmed to premiere in November. However, his past criminal life has its conniving way of resurfacing when he least expects it, upending his supposedly promising future.

The spin-off focusing on Jack Dawkins is scheduled to premiere on Disney Plus in Australia, while Hulu streams the show in the US.

The series is produced for streaming service Disney Plus, which makes it unlikely to become available somewhere else.

Nearly 15 years after the events in Oliver Twist, the now-adult Jack Dawkins successfully turns his life around, leaving the world of pickpocketing and becoming a respectable surgeon.

Content with his new life and pleased with the admiration he receives, the arrival of his former mentor Fagin turns his new world upside down, as he’s sucked back into a life of crime.

Aggravating the situation is Lady Belle Fox, who not only captures Jack’s attention, but also threatens to snatch his job. Lady Belle intends to become the colony’s first female surgeon.

Already struggling to leave his past life behind, a competition who’ll eventually manage to steal Dodger’s heart puts the former pickpocket in a much more delicate position.

Created by James McNamara, David Maher, and David Taylor, The Artful Dodger weaves a tale of grand adventures with themes of reinvention, redemption, and romance with a full-on twist.
