Just months after the worldwide success of Poor Things, Yorgos Lanthimos returns this year with another Emma Stone-starrer, Kinds of Kindness

Gloriously packed with big stars like Stone, Jesse Plemons, Willem Dafoe, Margaret Qualley, and Joe Alwyn, Kinds of Kindness is an absurdist black comedy anthology film featuring three stories about the bizarre and absurd components of human nature.

What’s in this Guide?

Kinds of Kindness will premiere in Australian cinemas on Thursday, 11 July. It originally debuted on 21 June in the US and 28 June in the UK.

The film initially had its world premiere at the 77th Cannes Film Festival on 17 May.

With Searchlight Pictures (a subsidiary of Walt Disney) as international distributor, the new film will be streaming in Australia via Disney+ after its theatrical run.

However, it will be released on digital platforms first (Apple TV, Google Play, etc.) before arriving on Disney Plus, following in the footsteps of other Searchlight titles.

Described as a “triptych fable”, the black comedy film follows a man who attempts to take control of his own life, to outrageous results; a policeman whose wife vanished only to return seemingly more peculiar; and a woman in a cult searching for someone with the ability to revive the dead. Yup, all three stories are bleak, bizarre, and absolutely hilarious.

The anthology film is directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, who co-wrote the screenplay with Efthimis Filippou. The director also produced the movie with Ed Guiney, Andrew Lowe, and Kasia Malipan. Kinds of Kindness marks Emma Stone and Lanthimos’ fourth collaboration after working together in The Favourite, Poor Things, and the short film “Bleat”.
