Darby Harper suffered a near death experience as a child and while that harrowing experience scarred her for life, it also gained her the ability to do something she’d rather do without – seeing dead people! Her newfound ability generated a side business counseling local spirits. With the time she spends with the dead, it naturally caused her to become distant from everyone. That all changes when Capri Donahue, the school’s Queen Bee and also her former friend, dies in a freak hair straightening accident.

Premiering on streaming TV in Australia, find out how to watch Darby and the Dead using this guide.

What’s in this Guide?

Following a tragedy that nearly cost Darby her life, she gains the ability to see and communicate with dead people. And no that didn’t freak her out for long. She has learned to adapt and eventually finds herself counselling lonely spirits with unfinished business.

She becomes introverted as a result, driving everyone away and instead interacting with the dead more often. She also helps them to pass on to the next realm by doing the things they weren’t able to do while alive.

But for a teenager like Darby, there are worse things than being able to see the dead and that’s high school. Her school’s head cheerleader Capri Donahue also doesn’t make it any easier. This pretty much sums up her teenage life, that is until Capri shockingly dies.

But with her death also comes another tragedy – the cancellation of her 17th birthday.

Realising that Darby can see her even after dying, Capri begs her to ensure that her “Sweet 17” party resumes. That means entering the popular clique to convince Capri’s friends to proceed with the party as planned. Darby reluctantly agrees, because, for starters, she can’t just win with a diva cheerleader’s ghost.

But something unexpected happens in the process – she learns how to reinvent herself and fit in with the real world again.
