What’s in this Guide?

After the tragic death of the king of Wakanda, his son Prince T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) returns home and takes his rightful place as king, only for his reign to be challenged by his cousin, Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan).

Wakanda has thrived for centuries, using vibranium to develop advanced technology. To protect themselves from the rest of the world, the nation hides its true nature and poses as a Third World country to stay out of the global limelight and operate with full autonomy.

Killmonger wants this policy changed to begin a global revolution using Wakanda’s unrivalled technology. Misguided and vindictive, Killmonger’s vision could put Wakanda and the entire world at risk.

He also wants revenge for the death of his father, N’Jobu, who was killed by T’Challa’s father, T’Chaka, after the former was caught stealing vibranium from Wakanda to assist black-market arms dealer, Ulysses Klaue.

As T’Challa’s leadership is tested and the future of his people and the world in jeopardy, the young king rallies his allies, forges new ones, and releases his true strength and power as the Black Panther.

Prior to his solo film, the character first entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in Captain America: Civil War. After its 2018 release, it became the first superhero movie to receive a Best Picture nomination at the Oscars and is considered as one of the best standalone Marvel films.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever release date

One of the most highly anticipated superhero movies, Black Panther’s sequel arrives in Australian cinemas on 10th November 2022 with tickets now available for purchase. No streaming premiere has been announced yet, although it usually takes a couple of months before a Marvel movie becomes available for Disney Plus subscribers after a film’s release in theatres.

With the release of the sequel also comes the question from its many fans: “Who is the new Black Panther?” Producer Kevin Feige, however, confirmed back in 2020 that the role of T’Challa would not be recast. Instead, Wakanda Forever will focus on its other main characters and the new threats that the nation will face.

Only Disney Plus has exclusive rights to broadcast the film, which the streaming service still offers on demand. For other streaming TV options, you can also rent or buy the film and watch via pay per view (Apple TV, Google Play, Microsoft Store, Fetch, Telstra TV Box Office), but the only place to stream through subscription is Disney Plus.
