Prime Video has produced its first ever Australian Original movie with the romantic comedy Five Blind Dates. Set to premiere a day before Valentine’s, the rom-com follows a young woman who must go on five dates, or so a prophecy suggests, to find her soulmate and save her failing tea shop she inherited from her grandmother.

Facing the pressures of disappointing her family, losing a piece of heritage from her beloved grandma, and going dateless to her sister’s wedding, she gambles it all by actually going out with five different suitors.

What’s in this Guide?

Produced by Amazon Studios and Goalpost Pictures Australia, the new film will stream exclusively on Prime Video.

Lia is a twenty-something woman who struggles with keeping the traditional Chinese tea shop that her grandmother left her afloat.

She’s also single, which, when surrounded by her family who expects her to, you know, not be single, is tough. This is particularly tougher with her sister getting married, sort of reminding everyone that she won’t be anytime soon.

So when a prophecy she didn’t ask for tells everyone that she must go on five dates because one of them is her soulmate, it’s more than enough to send her family scrambling to find her a suitor.

And oh, the prophecy also says that finding her soulmate can also save her failing tea shop, which, if true, really sweetens the deal.

The first project produced locally by Prime in Australia, Five Blind Dates is directed by Shawn Seet. Kylie du Fresne from Goalpost produced the movie with Ben Grant and Rosemary Blight serving as executive producers.
