Nearly five years later, the Descendants franchise is back with the much-awaited Descendants 4.
The hit Disney Original Movie, Descendants, tells the story of Mal, Carlos, Jay, and Evie, the teenage children of the most villainous villains of the land. Their parents’ wickedness had them living on an island slum where villains are banished and magic is suspended, so that everyone is on their best behaviour.
The success of Descendants on Disney Channel resulted in the creation of a franchise with a fourth film, Descendants: The Rise of Red, confirmed to premiere in July.

The Descendants 4 release date in Australia has been confirmed to happen on Friday, 12 July. Descendants: The Rise of Red is actually a spin-off of the first three movies.
The new film comes three years after the fourth movie was first announced in 2021.

What is the plot of Descendants: The Rise of the Red?
In this Descendants spin-off, the daughters of Queen of Hearts and Cinderella, Red and Chloe, must join forces to stop the former from starting a coup against Auradon.
To do this, they need to travel back in time to try to change the past. If successful, they can undo the devastating events that turned Red’s mother into a fearsome villain.
Descendants: The Rise of Red was written by Dan Frey and Russell Sommer and directed by Jennifer Phang. The spin-off will also feature a new line-up of cast.
While we won’t see the original cast members reprising their roles, there will be plenty of new faces and characters to root for. Kylie Cantrall will play the titular Red, the daughter of Queen of Hearts, while Malia Baker will play Chloe Charming, the daughter of Cinderella and Prince Charming.
