Eddie Murphy is Chris Carver in the new Christmas movie Candy Cane Lane. Desperate to win an annual contest as the neighbourhood’s best decorated house for Christmas, he unwittingly makes a deal with a vicious elf that’s obviously up to no good.

Not only will she ruin everyone’s Christmas, Chris will also turn into a plastic doll if he doesn’t come up with a plan to reverse the mayhem; and no offence to plastic dolls, that’s not good.

Making its streaming premiere in December, here’s how you can watch the new family comedy in Australia.

What is the plot of Candy Cane Lane?

Chris Carver (Murphy) has one wish this Christmas – to win his neighbourhood’s annual Christmas decoration contest. Okay, he probably has some other wishes, but this one tops the list.

With everyone going all out in their decorations, it’s suffice to say that the competition is stiff. To increase his chances of winning, Chris decides to enlist the help of an elf to spice things up with magic.

It backfires when it’s revealed that the elf has evil plans of her own, and of those plans none includes making others happy. Not only does she crave destruction, she also turns her victims into plastic dolls.

But the Carvers are not having it. With a little bit of brainstorming and making sure they don’t split up (because splitting up means dying in horror movies), Evil Elf will soon know that she messed with the wrong family.

The film is directed by Reginald Hudlin (House Party). Murphy also serves as producer alongside Charisse M. Hewitt, Karen Lunder, and Brian Grazer.
