What is the plot of Archie (2023)?

Jason Isaacs (The Great, Case Histories) portrays Cary Grant in ITV’s new four-part miniseries about the life of the Hollywood actor.

An icon of the Golden Age of Hollywood, the public saw Grant donning his charming self with an easily likeable magnetism to boot. But his life behind the camera unveils a different reality.

Originally using the name Archie Leach when he started his acting venture, his entry into Hollywood meant he needed a much more impactful name, ultimately becoming Cary Grant.

More than revisiting his meteoric rise to stardom during the 1940s and 1950s, the series also offers an in-depth exploration of the actor’s private life, including his traumatic childhood and his marriage to Dyan Cannon (played by Laura Aikman).

Cary Grant is best known for his performances in screwball comedies like Topper and His Girl Friday, as well as his later collaborations with master filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock in such movies as Notorious, To Catch a Thief, and North by Northwest. His final film was 1966’s Walk, Don’t Run

Paul Andrew Williams directs the series from a screenplay by Pope, while Jennifer Grant and Dyan Cannon serve as executive producers. Archie is a joint production between ITV Studios and BritBox International.
