January 8, 2025

Abbott Elementary Season 4 is streaming in Australia with our favourite team of wacky but dedicated educators back for more brilliant gags.

Writer and comedian Quinta Brunson stars in her own sitcom, Abbott Elementary. It follows Janine Teagues, a second grade teacher who, despite the odds stacked against her and her poorly funded school, remains optimistic about her job and what she can do for her students.

The show received much acclaim upon release on ABC in the US, praised for its ability to resonate and its enlightening perspective on the challenges and joys of educating.

Abbott Elementary Season 4 premieres in Australia on Wednesday, 22 January 2025, with new episodes streaming weekly. Unlike Abbott Elementary Season 3, which aired for only 14 episodes, the latest season is notably longer with 22 episodes.

The comedy series airs on ABC in the US, a division of Disney Entertainment. This means every episode of the show is streaming in Australia on Disney+.

The fourth season of the popular comedy is soon to drop in Australia. You can watch the trailer here.

Styled as a mockumentary, the lives of the teachers at Abbott Elementary are documented with a crew in place. A predominantly Black Philadelphia public school, the school is terribly mismanaged that no teachers last more than two years for its poor conditions, except Janine Teagues (Brunson) and history teacher Jacob Hill (Chris Perfetti), who have since gotten used to broken stuff at school.

Joining Janine and Jacob in their mission to help students succeed in life despite their school’s outrageous conditions are kindergarten teacher Barbara Howard (Sheryl Lee Ralph), second grade teacher Melissa Schemmenti (Lisa Ann Walter), and slightly tone deaf principal Ava Coleman (Janelle James). William Stanford Davis also joins the cast as Mr. Johnson (introduced in Abbott Elementary Season 2).

Working at a school that’s terribly mismanaged, Janine and her colleagues are still able to present a stellar attitude toward educating children despite their everyday struggles. The arrival of their latest substitute hire Gregory Eddie (Tyler James Williams) only underscore every issue that affects their school. Shocked by the school’s lack of resources and support, Janine encourages Gregory pretty much most of the time.

Series creator Quinta Brunson also serves as executive producer alongside Randall Einhorn, Justin Halpern, and Patrick Schumacker. The comedy series is a collaboration between production companies Delicious Non-Sequitur, Fifth Chance (season 2-present), 20th Television, and Warner Bros.
