Hugh Grant menacingly shines in the 2024 horror thriller, the Heretic movie.

A24’s new movie stars Grant as the wickedly twisted Mr. Reed, preaching his diabolical faith to two young religious women he ensnares in his home. It premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier in September, followed by a wider release in November.

Arriving in Australian cinemas next week, here’s everything you need to know about the new religious horror, including release date, plot, cast, and where it will stream after.

The Heretic release date in Australia has been confirmed to happen on Thursday, 28 November. Tickets are now on sale so horror fans can go ahead and book tickets online.

To speculate, Heretic (2024) movie is likely to make its subscription streaming debut on BINGE, Foxtel, and Foxtel Now, following in the footsteps of prior A24 releases that premiered on the aforementioned services.

Selected A24 movies are also released on streaming TV via Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, so your options will be plenty once the movie finishes screening in cinemas.

But before you can watch Heretic on paid streaming services, A24 will first release it on digital streaming via Apple TV, Prime Video Store, Google Play, Fetch and other similar platforms.

In this new horror thriller from A24, Mormon missionaries Sister Barnes (Sophie Thatcher) and Sister Paxton (Chloe East) unwittingly enter the home of the reclusive Mr. Reed (Grant).

Excited to discuss religion and faith with the strange man, they realise they’re in danger a little too late. They become trapped in his house with no obvious way out and are forced to play a fatal game of cat and mouse, which Mr. Reed has designed himself.

With no help coming, the girls must turn to their faith despite the diabolical Mr. Reed setting every scheme to make them see that religion is nothing but control. Will they stay true to their faith or will they succumb to his “one true religion”?

Heretic is written and directed by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, who also produced the movie with Stacey Sher, Julia Glausi, and Jeanette Volturno.
