Two of the giants in not only Spanish football but the world, collide for the greatest prize in club soccer, the Champions League, with Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid squaring off this weekend.
What makes this even better is that is a Madrid Derby, which during the Spanish Premier League is one of the most brutal games of the season, and you won’t have to miss a moment when watching live on a standard or HD TV, or streaming the action to a mobile device with a Free trial.
2016 UEFA Champions League Final Preview
The Champions League, outside the World Cup, is the most well known soccer tournament in the world. It brings together the best European sides and after the group stage and knockout rounds, the contenders stand up from the pretenders for what usually is a mouth watering final 90 minutes. Real Madrid have won the title on 10 occasions, and will look to make it eleven. Atletico Madrid have finished runners up twice, the latest in 2014 when losing 4-1 in extra time to Real Madrid, and are anxious to celebrate their first title.
Atletico advanced to this year’s Champions League final thanks to a crucial away goal against German giants Bayern Munich courtesy of Antoine Griezmann, and he is the man to watch if you are a Real defender. He has scored 75 goals since making his League debut, and is such a dangerous man up forward, but Atletico’s defence has been a key component this season and it is just about a brick wall.
Real got past Manchester City in the Semi Finals, with Gareth Bale scoring in the second game at Etihad. Cristiano Ronaldo was well contained in both legs of that Semi Final, but we know he can be so dangerous when in the mood and he pretty much carried them to the title a couple of years ago. The question for Real is whether or not they have the patience against the defence of Atletico, because if they are patient enough, the cracks will appear.
