TV Shows we think you would like to stream if you watched Twister.
If you're looking for a Helen Hunt fix, here are some more movies and TV shows that you can stream.
In Twister, Mother Nature happens. It starts off with a flashback when a colossal tornado hits young Jo's (Alexa Vega) family farm. When Jo (Helen Hunt) is grown up, she makes a new sensor device that changes the way tornados are studied. It can study them from the inside and gather fascinating data that no one's ever collected before.
Tornados aren't the only thing Jo is navigating. We find out pretty soon that she's got an estranged husband, Bill (Bill Paxton), who shows up with divorce papers. But, before the papers get signed, Bill decides to join Jo in one last adventure. Once teamed up, the pair go tornado hunting, which puts the technology — and their relationship — to the test.
With each tornado they chase, they find themselves dealing with a more perilous quest each time. Eventually, they catch up with one of the biggest, meanest tornados: the F5 Twister.
Twister is one of the most original, heart-racing action movies to have come out of the 90s. And, it still holds up today as one of the best!
If you're into natural disaster films with a little bit of nerdy science and a dash of adventure? If yes, then you'll love Twister as much as we do. It's got the gritty charm you get with older films. And, let's not forget to mention mind-blowing effects that make it hard to believe it's from the 90s. Here's everything you'll love about Twister:
Watch Twister for free on 7plus. And don't worry, it's not too good to be true! 7plus is actually owned by Channel 7, one of the biggest Aussie free-to-air channels, so you can trust it's legit. Similar films you can watch for free on 7plus include Battle: Los Angeles (2011) and The Book of Eli (2010).
Buy Twister on Apple TV or Google Play. You can also watch it for no extra cost on a bunch of streaming platforms, including Foxtel Now and Binge. But, these platforms do switch up their selection of movies. So, if you want to rewatch Twister over and over, you're best off buying it.
Twister is rated PG-13. This makes it suitable for kids over 13 without grown ups around, and anyone younger with parental supervision. If you do go for Twister for movie night, make sure your youngsters are okay with the themes. It's got some mild language, a fair share of intense peril, and natural disaster scenes which might be upsetting.
Stan, Foxtel Now, Prime Video, and Binge all include Twister with a subscription. You can also buy or rent Twister on Apple TV —- you're pretty spoiled for choice!
Because Twister is widely available on loads of streaming apps, you also get to pick how you watch it. You can stream Twister on your smartphone, tablet, laptop/computer, or smart TV. You can also stream it in a bunch of languages, including Spanish, French, and English.
Neither — Twister is actually the first film of its kind. It's followed by Twisters (2024), which is a standalone sequel to the original film. The original movie is by French director Jan de Bont, whereas the new follow-up is made by Lee Isaac Chung. Both directors aced the plot and cinematography, so if you're after a movie marathon, they're a brilliant choice.
