Who Are the NZ Breakers?

The New Zealand Breakers are one of the most successful non-Australian teams in the NBL (National Basketball League). In their past, they’ve won an impressive four NBL championships (in 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2015). They call the Spark Arena in Auckland home.

Despite their powerful 2010s run, the NZ Breakers came 9th overall in the NBL 2024/25 Championship. However, head coach Petteri Koponen is still in place, and is hoping to stir things up with star imports like Jackson-Cartwright. Will they finish at the top end of the ladder in 2026?

After a disappointing 2024/25 NBL season, the NZ Breakers look poised to shake the tournament this time around. Can they avoid the slumps that held them back last time around? Can head coach Petteri Koponen pull some magic out the bag with his new lineup of young talent?

Find out with Compare TV. We’re here to bring you live and on-demand coverage of every game in an NBL season that promises to be one for the ages. Watch NZ Breakers live and stream NBL games in HD through Australia’s top sports streaming services.
