NBA 2025/26 Updates & Changes

We don’t have a crystal ball, but we can still predict one thing for sure: this NBA season is going to be as fresh and exciting as ever. How do we know? There have been a fair few personnel switch-ups off-season. Some high profile. Some under-the-radar. All worth noticing!

Looking forward to streaming NBA games live? Us too. This should help get you even more excited: below are some of the most important updates and changes to watch out for.

  • Kristaps Porziņģis has joined the Atlanta Hawks.
  • De'Aaron Fox has joined the San Antonio Spurs.
  • Jimmy Butler has joined the Golden State Warriors.
  • Russell Westbrook has joined the Sacramento Kings.

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Watch the NBA live online to get the full picture and see how these changes will play out on the court!

Introducing the New “Heave” Shots Rule

Thought the NBA couldn’t get any more exciting? Think again. The ends of the first three quarters are about to get a whole lot more thrilling. The NBA has introduced a new “heave” shot rule which lets players attempt distance backcourt shots within the final three seconds of the quarter - without it affecting their shooting percentage.

Before, players were reluctant to attempt these types of shots as they feared a miss would impact their personal shooting percentage. Now, though, any shot taken within the final three seconds of the first three quarters, launched from at least 36 feet away and where the play originates in the backcourt, will be counted as a team field-goal attempt but not against the individual player’s shooting percentage.

This means we can expect more and more edge-of-your-seat long-distance attempts at the end of quarters. Be there to experience them when you stream NBA live at Foxtel Now or Kayo Sports!
