Foxtel has recently announced a major shakeup happening to their popular movie services. Dedicated solely to the all-time greatest movies ever made, they’re launching a new channel aptly named, Foxtel Movie Greats, this coming Friday, March 23rd. And if that’s not enough to satisfy the classic movie fan in you, all of the channel’s carefully curated movies will also be available On Demand and will be streamed on Foxtel Now.

In a statement made by Brian Walsh, Foxtel’s Executive Director of Television, he said that “We know how much our customers love movies and we recognise how important it is for them to have choice. That includes movies of every genre and from every decade. We recognised a gap in not providing a service dedicated to the all-time movie greats and that is why this new channel has been added to the line-up.”

Indeed, Foxtel Movie Greats will cater to all those who have been bitten by the nostalgia bug. Those who want to go down memory lane will find an exemplary collection of old movies that, oddly enough, never seemed to get old with viewers, both old and young.

“Foxtel Movie Greats will be carefully curated with a wide selection of outstanding motion pictures from every major Hollywood studio, including 20th Century Fox, Disney, Warners, Sony, Paramount, Universal and MGM. The channel will feature titles from Hollywood’s illustrious past through to modern classics. It will mean that Foxtel customers will now have the choice of 10 dedicated movie channels, including our incredibly successful Pop-Up Movie channel,” Walsh further stated.

Foxtel Movie Greats will be the new home of the greatest of the greats, including the most highly acclaimed actors and actresses of all time. You’ll find works of Meryl Streep, Audrey Hepburn, Clint Eastwood, Tom Cruise, as well as notable fan favourites from Hollywood including Goldie Hawn, Eddie Murphy, John Travolta, Demi Moore, and Rob Lowe, among many big names in the industry.

Another good news is the level of quality that these classic pieces will be showcased in. Brian Walsh added by saying, “We have secured brand new digitally remastered prints of many of the titles, which look stunning. For a great many of the movies, this is the first time they will be seen in glorious HD, which will add to the magic.”

And magical it will be, with all movies available in HD and ad-break free, as well as new titles added weekly. To kick things off, Foxtel Movie Greats library will include The Godfather, Risky Business, The Goonies, My Fair Lady, Cleopatra, Ben-Hur, The Ten Commandments, Kramer vs Kramer, Greatest Show On Earth, Death On The Nile, and so many more.

With the introduction of Movie Greats, Foxtel also announced that veteran movie critic Bill Collins’ personal favourites from Hollywood’s golden age will also be available to On Demand subscribers starting March 23. Bill’s popular “Golden Years Of Hollywood” will feature a treasure trove of movies including All About Eve, The Wizard Of Oz, An American In Paris, Casablanca, Sunset Boulevard, Auntie Mame, and The African Queen, just to name a few.

Brian Walsh concluded this major launch saying, “There really hasn’t been a better time to have Foxtel Movies and Foxtel Movies On Demand. All the movie premieres, all the masterpieces, all the blockbusters and the much loved favourites, available both through our dedicated channels and the On Demand library. Lights down, curtain up!”

Excited yet? You can tune in to Foxtel Movie Greats, available in HD to Foxtel Movies and Foxtel Platinum subscribers on Channel 403. In addition, more than 60 of the key films part of the Foxtel Movie Greats launch will also be made available on Foxtel’s On Demand library and available for streaming on Foxtel Now this month.
