From the creator of Mare of Easttown comes another crime drama, Task, starring Mark Ruffalo. It follows an FBI agent as he leads a task force commissioned to end a succession of violent robberies. The person behind the crimes is a family man, whose criminal actions are fuelled by his desire to provide for his family, setting the stage for the show’s themes of moral ambiguity.

What is the Task TV series about?
Set in the working-class suburbs of Philadelphia, a string of home invasions has the FBI putting up a task force to uncover its operations. Leading the charge is former pastor turned FBI agent Tom, played by MCU veteran Mark Ruffalo. On the other side of this morally complex equation is a family man, named Robbie Prendergrast, played by Outer Range’s Tom Pelphrey. Robbie, the mastermind behind the string of robberies, leads a double life as a devoted family man.
This is creator Brad Ingelsby’s follow-up series four years after Mare of Easttown was released to great acclaim. Just like the Kate Winslet-starrer crime drama, Task doesn’t just present crimes that need solving procedurally. It also delves into the lives of the people entangled in the investigation—their relationships, traumatic past, dilemmas, and complex humanity.
Cast of the Task TV show
In addition to Mark Ruffalo and Tom Pelphrey, the cast of Task also includes Emilia Jones as Maeve, Thuso Mbedu as Aleah, Raúl Castillo as Cliff, Jamie McShane as Perry, Sam Keeley as Jayson, Fabien Frankel as Anthony, and Alison Oliver as Lizzie.
Some of the recurring cast members include Owen Teague as Peaches, Margarita Levieva as Eryn, Martha Plimpton as Kathleen McGinty, and Mireille Enos as Susan Brandis.
