The sixth edition of the NRL Nines is set to take place this February with all sixteen of Australia’s best league teams entering the competition. The tournament will be the first run out of the season for most sides and a chance for fans to get a glimpse of new signings before the games start counting towards the standings.

This year’s tournament takes place in Perth, and is on Australian soil for only the second time, with previous editions taking place in Auckland and Perth. The first match kicks off in February and using the options listed in this NRL Nines on TV guide you won’t have to miss a key moment.

The 2021 Perth Nines competition has been cancelled. This is due to the late end to the 2020 AFL season, which included three State Of Origin Games in November. The next NRL Nines competition is set to take place in 2022, with the location yet to be confirmed. Once further details about the 2022 event are released, this page will be updated.

There are several options for watching the NRL Nines 2021 in Australia, however, there currently is no free to air broadcaster for the tournament at least for this edition. Foxtel (Kayo Sports/Telstra) has an agreement in place to televise all thirty matches, that’s over 12 hours of LIVE NRL Nines over two days. Alternatively, the NRL Live Pass platform will also be streaming the Perth Nines live.

Foxtel’s coverage comes via their Fox Footy channel which specialises in the world of Rugby League. As well as the NRL Nines Perth competition, Fox Footy will show several other pre-season head to heads including the Indigenous and Maouri All-Star games. Fortunately, there is more than one way to access Fox Footy on Australia TV, they include Foxtel, Foxtel Now, Foxtel from Telstra and the Kayo Sports streaming platform, with each game available Live and in HD.

Watch the NRL Nines Online with Foxtel

In addition to televising live Fox Footy games, Foxtel and Foxtel from Telstra will typically offer the same matches with NRL Nines TV replays airing later that same day, as well as the option to watch the NRL live online using compatible mobile and internet connected devices via the Foxtel Go.

You also have the option to watch NRL Nines 2021 online using Foxtel Now, which allows you to access all Fox Sports channels (via Foxtel Now Sport Pack) without a Pay TV subscription. For good measure Foxtel Now currently offers a 10 day FREE trial so that you can check out all of its content (more than 50 sports in total) before any payment, and should you decide to subscribe you can cancel anytime if you’re no longer using it.

Watch the Nines with NRL Live Pass

The NRL Live Pass is an option for those who aren’t interested in the variety of other sport that’s available during this same time. The quality of the screenings, however, do not offer higher resolution of the other platforms, and buffering issues are known to occur. The platform does offers weekly, monthly or annual subscriptions and will show every pre-season, regular season and playoff season game live, including the NRL Nines 2021.

Subscriptions are available via the NRL App, which is included free with selected Telstra Mobile Phone plans if you have one. If you do not simply download the app from Apple Store and Google play on a compatible device and choose between three payment options: $3.99/week, $14.99/month or $99.99/per year. There is also a 14 day cancel at anytime trial period for pre-season games only.

Stream the Perth Nines FREE on Kayo Sports

Another choice for watching the NRL Nines live in Australia would be to use the 7-day Kayo Sports free trial, which has no lock-in contract and is available across two devices if you’re looking to share. Because Kayo is affiliated with Fox Sports it will broadcast the same exact live Fox Footy games as Foxtel, but without Pay TV contracts cost. Kayo offers live NRL streaming with eligible mobile devices and browsers, including select PC and Macs, iOS and Android phones and tablets, Apple and Telstra TV, the Google Chromecast, as well as Safari, Firefox, Chrome and Microsoft Edge browsers, with new apps and platforms arriving soon.

Kayo will also provide on demand replays of the matches they televise, should you need to catch-up on that week’s action. Additionally, every game will be displayed in High Definition, giving you greater clarity, while the No Spoilers option allows fans to hide all outcomes, a very handy feature if you don’t want to know the results before you’ve had a chance to watch a key event On Demand, along with a vast range of viewing features not available with alternative platforms.
