Reiko Hosho, played with a charming naivety, leads us through a world of high society and crime. While the premise sounds intriguing, the execution can be hit or miss. Kageyama, her butler, is a highlight with his sardonic humour, yet at times his jabs at Reiko’s abilities feel repetitive. The film has its moments, especially in the latter half where the plot thickens, but it occasionally drags in the first act.
