★★★★★4/5
Rumah Untuk Alie is a compelling and emotionally charged film that tackles the dark realities of familial abuse with both sensitivity and raw honesty. Directed by Herwin Novianto, the film follows Alie, a young girl caught in the crossfire of her family's dysfunction, as she navigates a world where compassion is a rare commodity. The performances are striking, particularly the lead, whose portrayal of Alie's anguish and yearning for acceptance is both heartbreaking and powerful. The cinematography captures the oppressive atmosphere of the family home, enhancing the viewer's emotional connection to Alie's plight. While the film does not shy away from difficult themes, it ultimately offers a glimmer of hope, suggesting that healing is possible even in the most challenging circumstances. This film is a poignant reminder of the resilience of the human spirit, making it a worthwhile watch for those seeking depth in storytelling.

★★★★★3/5
Rumah Untuk Alie is a film that hits hard, but at times it feels like it leans too heavily into its bleak narrative. The story of Alie, who is relentlessly mistreated by her family, is undeniably gripping, yet the film can be overwhelming in its depiction of despair. The performances are commendable, especially from the actress portraying Alie, who brings a raw vulnerability to the role. However, the pacing occasionally drags, and some scenes feel repetitive, which might test the audience's patience. That said, the film does manage to deliver moments of insight and reflection on the nature of family and forgiveness. If you're in the mood for a heavy drama that doesn't shy away from the harsh realities of life, Rumah Untuk Alie might resonate with you, but be prepared for an emotional journey that can be quite intense.
