★★★★★4/5
Gunpowder Milkshake, directed by Navot Papushado, is a thrilling foray into the world of assassins, balancing high-octane action with a deeper narrative about redemption and motherhood. The film follows Sam, portrayed with remarkable intensity by Karen Gillan, as she navigates the treacherous landscape of organised crime to protect a young girl. The cinematography is striking, with a vivid colour palette that enhances the film's stylistic choices. The direction is confident, allowing for both action and emotional moments to resonate. While the plot may sometimes feel familiar, the engaging performances and sharp dialogue elevate it. The film successfully combines humour with its darker themes, making it a refreshing entry in the action genre. Overall, Gunpowder Milkshake is a solid watch for those seeking a blend of action and heartfelt storytelling.

★★★★★3.5/5
Gunpowder Milkshake is a wild ride that certainly delivers on action and style. With its neon-soaked visuals and a killer soundtrack, it grips you from the get-go. Karen Gillan shines as Sam, bringing a fierce energy to the role of an assassin with a heart. The film's premise of protecting a young girl amid chaos is both engaging and poignant. However, while the action sequences are exhilarating, some plot points feel a bit predictable. The supporting cast, including the formidable trio of female assassins, adds depth and flair, but I wished for more character development. The blend of comedy and violence works well, making it a fun watch, but it doesn't quite reach the heights of its potential. Still, if you're in the mood for an entertaining action flick with a twist, Gunpowder Milkshake is worth your time.
