St Kilda FC AFL Live Streaming and Free to Air TV Guide

St Kilda Football Club logo

The St Kilda Football Club, otherwise known as the Saints, are one of football’s oldest teams having been established in 1873. They were one of the core 5 teams that made up the VFA and then later the VFL. The Saints have won a single premiership way back in 1966, and haven’t seen a grand final since 2010. In the time since, the Saints have finished in the league’s top eight just twice, joining the ranks of other AFL clubs that haven’t seen a finals season in over 10 years, but 2020 held a slight return to glory. For the first time in a decade, the St Kilda’s work paid off and they made a finals season.

With the team’s huge legacy of greats, the current side of Saints players have big shoes to fill. The immediate players that come to mind are future hall of famers Fraser Gehrig, Nick Riewoldt and Norm Smith Medalist Lenny Hayes. There are big names at the Saints currently with the likes of Rowan Marshall, Max King, Sebastian Ross, Paddy Ryder and Brad Hill. The Saints have a lot to prove and they have the roster to do it.

2021 St Kilda Saints Preview

Having had past success as a part of Hawthorn’s premiership coaching panel for their 2014-2016 dynasty, Brett Ratten has led the Saints to their first finals since 2011 and is sure he can lead them to another AFL final series. The club have not been a favourite club for some time but with Ratten showing success within the limits of the 2020 COVID-19 season, he very well could push the team further without such restrictions.

Currently sitting just shy of the AFL ladder top 8, the Saints are banging on the door. Their losses currently come from finals contenders like Port Adelaide, Geelong Cats and season favourites the Western Bulldogs. St Kilda have a tight run home against more difficult opponents, but if their latest wins over the Lions and the Tigers tell us anything, it’s that we can never be written off.

Part of their rise can be put down to Saints head coach, Brett Ratten, but also a stellar squad of players. The Saints roster of has some gems, with the likes of Dan Butler and Paddy Ryder having a legacy career already. Now that the Saints are starting to fire up, it’s not out of the question to see them reach the AFL grand final this term.
