How To Watch Marvel Movies In Order

Marvel began its journey as a daily comic strip. Today it has transformed, like many superheroes on its roster, to become a beloved Marvel movie experience for fans the world over. Where once comic books and superheroes were not seen as cinema material, fans now wait with bated breath for their next superhero release. But what is the correct order to watch all the Marvel Movies in? Find out all that and more right here.

About Marvel Movies

Avengers: Endgame brought to an end an entire cycle of Marvel movies, that started with Iron Man in 2008. With no mega releases from Marvel Studios lined up for the near present, this is perhaps the best time to rewind the clock and catch up on the entire set of Marvel movies in order.

There is a decade’s worth of Marvel movies to catch up on. And because each superhero had crossover storyline’s that extended to the Avengers trilogy, there is a chronological way to watch all the Marvel movies in order.

Our dedicated, diehard team of MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) fans have mapped out this timeline for your viewing pleasure. All you need to do is sit back, scroll down to find out how you can watch all the Marvel movies in order.

What Is The Correct Order Of The Marvel Movies?

Before we begin with the correct chronology to watch Marvel movies in order, here’s a quick recap of the MCU.

Marvel movies existed before the MCU. The most popular example was the first Spider-Man trilogy starring Toby Maguire. You also had the first X-Men trilogy starring Hugh Jackman as the unforgettable Wolverine. These movies were standalone projects with no connecting thread. Then came Iron Man from Marvel Studios in 2008.

The movie was a part of a larger universe project of Marvel movies. You could say the approach to how the comic books were being written at the time – as a series and not just episodes. What followed was a dedicated set of Marvel movies for each superhero, including Captain America – The First Avenger, Thor: Dark World, Ant-Man And The Wasp, to name a few. You even had Guardians Of The Galaxy becoming a part of the MCU.

The entire MCU timeline, up until Avengers; Endgame, is divided into three phases:

Phase 1

Here we saw the origin stories of all the major protagonists that would feature in Avengers: Iron Man, The Hulk, Thor, and Captain America. Think of this as the Big Bang moment for Marvel movies.

Phase 2

Marvel movies began expanding with storylines crossing over to form a network of narratives all connected to Avengers: Age of Ultron. Guardians Of The Galaxy was introduced, so too were Ant-Man And The Wasp. The MCU was now taking shape as a universe.

Phase 3

The universe of Marvel movies began to expand with the introduction of new characters such as Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, Black Panther and Captain Marvel. All new storylines were leading to the epic conclusion of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
